Our approach to ESG

As a strategic change agency, we are fortunate to help our clients implement new strategies and increasingly see that they focus on environmental and sustainability matters.

We are a small company that believes we can make a significant impact by helping organisations larger than us transition to more sustainable ways of thinking within their projects.

Having said that, we also believe that we have a responsibility to minimise our own impact as well as take active measures to be a force of good in our community.

Social responsibility

Being a force of good in our community and beyond

We respect and support the UN’s human rights and labour rights, including the fight against child labour and the right to organise.

We comply with applicable legislation and never accept any crime, including corruption, money laundering, illegal distortion of competition or bribery.

It is important that we follow good business ethics and are aware of conflicts of interest and situations where an employee may become incompetent in relation to the interests of both Workz and customers.

Discrimination is not tolerated and we work actively for equality, inclusion and anti-discrimination.

Print and production

We love paper and card board

It is our long-term ambition to CO2-neutralise our entire operation. Either by using vendors that offer carbon-neutralised options or by buying compensation ourselves. Travelling and printing are where we have the biggest environmental impact, so that is naturally where we have started our journey.

We believe in the power of face-to-face communication and that a well-designed paper tool is a vital part of our high-quality solutions. As the world becomes more virtual, print plays an increasingly smaller role in our solutions, but we do not drive this change.

  • We minimise the use of plastic-laminated paper and other hard-to-recycle materials.
  • We print all materials for Danish-based projects locally, and CO2 compensates everything directly through the printing house.
  • Our Danish print suppliers are all ISO14001 certified.
  • Whenever possible, we print on ‘Svanemærket’ and ‘FSC’ paper.
  • Our long-term goal is for our international vendor to fullfil these standards.

On top of this, we help make sure all our design materials are properly recycled.

  • We mark materials directly with recycling instructions or guide the end-user through other means.
Travelling and shipping

Moving people and goods around

Most of our meetings are remote these days, but now and then, face-to-face meetings are necessary. When we need to travel for meetings and workshops, we prioritise sustainable modes of transportation.

  • When using taxis in Denmark, our first choice is the taxi company Dantaxi which uses electric cars. We compensate for all other taxi rides, as well as rides in our private cars.
  • When it comes to air travel, we compensate either directly through the airline company or we make the compensation ourselves.
  • When buying compensation, we choose vendors that invest in certified nature projects in developing countries and where the effects of climate change are severe.

management system certification

Workz are officially ISO14001 certified as of February 2022.

In a nutshell, ISO14001 is a formalised set of standards for environmental management. The standards are developed by industry experts, and they serve as a guide to help companies reduce environmental impacts, reduce waste and be more sustainable.

Other initiatives

Other ways to minimise our harmful footprint

Beyond more sustainable printing and travelling, we have made a few other choices to limit our impact.

  • Since 2022, we have sourced our electricity from Vindstød, which offers CO2-neutral renewable energy.
  • In 2018, we switched to an all-vegetarian lunch menu. We encourage our colleagues to take home leftover food to minimize food waste. We deliver any additional leftovers to a homeless shelter.
  • We buy our coffee from Ønsk, a Danish Coffee company that purchases all their coffee directly from small farms in Nicaragua to ensure fair pay.

Got any questions?

We believe it is crucial to be transparent in our communication about results, whether positive or negative. Did we get a little too technical or not technical enough? Please message our Sustainability Lead, Marta, if you have any questions regarding our sustainability policy or ideas you would like to share.
