Game-based change leadership training

When the industrial corporation Danfoss was renewing their internal leadership development program in change management they were looking for a game that could concentrate on the soft sides of change management. They chose Wallbreakers for this task.

Five Danfoss consultants have been licensed to facilitate the change leadership game Wallbreakers. By now they have run the game with over 1,000 leaders in Denmark and around Europe on the different sites of the corporation.

The game has worked as a perfect frame for understanding the dynamics that are at stake in a change process, and the significance of leadership that takes care of the human dimension

During this period Workz has delivered on-going assistance in adjusting the processes of the game to specific challenges. Furthermore we have helped interpreting the game into the frame of theory on change management that was already in use at Danfoss.

Wallbreakers has given Danfoss a unique chance to create an engaging process of development, where there is room for each facilitator to build their own perspectives and preferences into the game.

“Danfoss has used Wallbreakers on several occasions – in open leadership development programs with participants across the organisation, as well as in relation to changes in a department or project team. In all cases the game has worked as a perfect frame for understanding the dynamics that are at stake in a change process, and the significance of leadership that takes care of the human dimension. In particular the balance between the activating, competitive element, the serious dialogue, and exchange of ideas incorporated in the game was very efficient” says Torben Petersen, Senior HR consultant Danfoss A/S
