How do you make leadership a key strategic driver in one of the world’s biggest private companies with close to 500,000 employees? You make it the cornerstone of the corporate top management summit.

The summit

TMC (Top Management Conference) is a cultural institution in the global ISS organisation that covers 77 countries. It is an annual summit that rejuvenates the organisation and sets the strategic agenda for the coming year.

Workz has been a trusted, inspiring and highly professional partner who contributed significantly to the success of TMC 2017

In 2017, the event was hosted in Zürich, Switzerland, with the top 450 leaders from across the ISS globe.

A two-day event with a combination of key-note presentations, engaging workshops, reflection and networking.

Developing leadership competencies

The headline for TMC 2017 was “Invest Yourself” with a strong focus on the leadership competencies that are required to make ISS the world’s greatest service organisation.

A key part of the summit was three engaging workshops where everybody participated in a condensed high-paced version of the three modules of the organisation’s new global leadership agenda, which will be rolled out in 2017 and 2018.

The three workshops focused on Leading Yourself, Leading Others and Leading the Business, with a strong link to the relevant competencies in ISS’ new Leadership Competency Framework.

The process included engaging team challenges, board-game simulations and reflection exercises. Key learning-points were documented and integrated into post-summit activities based on a new digital leadership platform.

Walk the talk

Where many top-management summits only talk about the importance of leadership and what leaders should prioritise, ISS chose to walk the talk by giving participants an opportunity to invest themselves in their leadership during the summit

Christian Lauritzen, Head of Group Learning and Development, ISS World Services says;

“Our TMC 2017 summit design was a fine balance between building on a strong tradition of successful meetings in the past, and at the same time introducing a series of new activities and an increased focus on leadership.

The change agency Workz played an essential role in the design and execution of our leadership workshops at the TMC summit in Zürich. From assisting with design of flow and core story, to facilitating and designing a series of engaging workshops.

As thought leaders on involvement, leadership training and game-based learning, Workz has been a trusted, inspiring and highly professional partner who contributed significantly to the success of TMC 2017, which was rated 4.72 out of 5 by the participants.”
