Strategy in Play
Using market simulations in strategy roll-out
Throughout 2013 we assisted a number of organisations in strategy roll-outs and anchoring by custom designed market simulations.
For companies spanning the pharmaceutical and service sectors we transformed specific market dynamics into simulations, which let the participants test how their strategy plays out in a changing market with active competitors. A market simulation offers the opportunity to take on the role of the competitors and test the effect of different countermoves to your own strategy.
The simulations were used on both leadership conferences attended by about 400 leaders, in small-scale sessions with top management and afterwards for leadership training.
We were very pleased with the final game tool, which brilliantly succeeds in making the complex seem simple while incorporating the central business perspectives
ISS was one of the companies we designed a market simulation for. The game focused on supporting the regional strategy in the Nordic countries with partnerships and relationship-building as the pivotal points. The key to success in the game was finding the right match between the company’s own core competences and the customers’ needs while facing ruthless competition for both new and old customers. The ISS simulation has since been developed in a Global Edition that covers the global strategy as well.
“In a busy international organisation it is essential to gain maximum profit from assembling all our top leaders. In the fall of 2013 we accelerated the implementation of our ambitious Nordic strategy and as a part of the process we assembled our Nordic top managers and directors at an intensive seminar in Copenhagen.”
“For that occasion Workz assisted us in developing a wargame that strengthened the shared comprehension of the strategy while creating an engaging frame for exchange of experiences and qualification of the strategy implementation.”
“We have previously used Workz in connection with our training and educational activities and we greatly appreciate their ability to combine a thorough understanding of our business situation with unique competences of development. “
“The game was a great success and has since been used across the organisation. “
“We were very pleased with the final game tool, which brilliantly succeeds in making the complex seem simple while incorporating the central business perspectives”, says Finn Vestergaard, Group Vice President, Director HR EMEA, ISS.
